THE Lagos State University Muslim Community honoured the Best Graduating Student, Mubarak Olaniyi, at a Special Jumah Service held at the University's Mosque on Friday, May 31, 2024. The event was part of the 27th Convocation Ceremonies.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, attended the event alongside other principal officers, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Administration and Academics) in person of Prof. Adenike Omotunde Boyo and Prof. Olufunso Omobitan, the Registrar, Bursar, University Librarian, and other dignitaries.
Prof. Olatunji-Bello thanked the Muslim community for their support and congratulated the Best Graduating students and other first-class degree holders present. She advised them to be good ambassadors of the University and warned surrogate staff to desist from claiming to be bona-fide personnel.
The Vice-Chancellor also encouraged teaching staff to embrace technology, especially for large classes, and to prioritise the overall development of LASU. She called for more support from staff and emphasised her commitment to treating all staff equally, regardless of religion, colour, or language.
The Chief Imam of the LASU Muslim Community, Prof. Amidu Sanni, applauded the Vice-Chancellor's achievements and commitment to the institution's development. He urged the Management to prioritise infrastructural development and prayed for the Vice-Chancellor's success.
The event included the presentation of a Certificate of Honour to the Best Graduating Student, recognition of first-class graduating students, special prayers, and praises to God.
Other attendees included Deans, Directors, Professors, Heads of Departments, senior administrative officers, students, and well-wishers.
