DIRECTOR of the Global Exchange Programme at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Prof. Temidayo Akenroye, visited the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, at her office on the sixth floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, main campus, Ojo on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
The meeting aimed to solidify ongoing discussions regarding a collaboration between LASU and the University of Missouri.
Facilitated by Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin, Director of the Directorate of ICT, LASU, Prof. Akenroye's visit was met with enthusiasm. He expressed satisfaction with the significant progress LASU has made in the past two years under the current administration. As a professor of Supply Chain Management, Prof. Akenroye highlighted his role in fostering new collaborations and strengthening existing ones.
He noted that Prof. Enikuomehin had reached out to the University of Missouri over two years ago to propose a partnership, which was initially met with hesitation. However, after closely monitoring LASU's progress during that period, the University of Missouri is now impressed with the institution's capabilities and accomplishments.
Despite being a State University, LASU has achieved an impressive ranking, a position further bolstered by the institution's ICT-driven innovations. Prof. Akenroye acknowledged these developments and expressed his University's keen interest in partnering with LASU.
On her part, Prof. Olatunji-Bello expressed her delight at the visit and assured Prof. Akenroye of LASU's commitment to providing the necessary support to establish a mutually beneficial collaboration with the University of Missouri.
The productive engagement concluded with both parties resolving to explore various opportunities for staff and student exchange programmes, knowledge sharing, research collaboration, and technology-driven enhancements in the blood supply chain in Nigeria, among other areas of interest.
Also present at the meeting were Prof. Kabir Akinyemi, Director of the Directorate of Linkages, Partnerships, and Collaborations, alongside other high-ranking officials from the administration.
