LAGOS State Governor, His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has recognised the academic excellence of Olaniyi Olawale, the overall Best-Graduating Student of Lagos State University, with a reward of N10m.
The announcement was made during the University's 27th convocation grand finale for the award of Doctoral Degrees (PhD), and Conferment of Honourary Doctorates, which took place at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU, Ojo in Lagos on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
“Congratulations Olaniyi Olawale, well done! Your hard work has brought you this far, the reward for hard work is more work. I believe there are so many Olawales in here, I want you to be inspired, LASU is a school of excellence.
“LASU has continued to lead in academic excellence. Products of this great institution have continued to excel in all their chosen fields. Just last week, I swore in some new judges for Lagos State, 10 out of the 13 new judges were alumni of LASU, that has gone to show that we’re indeed great,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Olaniyi Olawale, who graduated with a remarkable CGPA of 4.98 in Accounting Education, was honoured for his outstanding academic achievement. His achievement is a testament to his hard work and dedication to academic excellence.
Meanwhile, the reward was announced via a tweet by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, stating, "FLASH: Governor of Lagos State, Mr #jidesanwoolu has announced a token of N10m for the overall Best-Graduating Student of Lagos State University (#LASUOfficial), Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale, Accounting Education, who graduated with a CGPA of 4.98."
Olaniyi Olawale's achievement serves as an example of the potential and talent that exists among the youth in the State.
