Kenya Cooperative visits LASU

The delegation from Kenya visited LASU as part of their state-wide tour to study the operations of the University's cooperative society.

A delegation from the Kenya Cooperative Federation paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello,  on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The visiting group, led by the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Cooperative Federation, Mrs Ebun Akin-Falae, came to LASU to study the operations of the University's Cooperative Societies, which have been identified as a model for standard practices.

The delegation, comprising around 30 members, was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adenike Boyo, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor. She was joined by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan, and other members of the University's management team. The Chairmen of the Cooperative Societies in LASU, under the Union of Cooperative Societies in Ojo, led by Mr Ibilola, were also present for the visit.

After a warm welcome, the delegation proceeded to meet with the leaders of the Cooperative Societies as part of their state-wide tour. The visit concluded with the Chairman of the Kenya Cooperative Federation, Mr Jeremiah, decorating Prof. Boyo with some of the organisation's souvenirs.

This exchange between the Kenyan Cooperative representatives and their LASU counterparts highlights the potential for cross-cultural learning and sharing best practices in the cooperative movement.
