LASU VC meets Lagos CP to seek support

The visit demonstrated the University's proactive approach to security and its commitment to hosting successful and memorable FASU games.

THE Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University,  Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, led a delegation to meet with the Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. The visit aimed to congratulate the CP on his appointment and solicit support for adequate security around LASU campuses.

Prof. Olatunji-Bello explained that the visit was a tradition to familiarise the new CP with the University's security needs. She sought assistance in providing a safe environment for staff and students, particularly during the upcoming 11th All Africa University Games (FASU). The Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan and Prof. Adenike Boyo, also congratulated the CP and sought his support for the successful hosting of the FASU games.

CP Fayoade, an alumnus of LASU, expressed satisfaction with the visit and pledged deep involvement in ensuring security during the sports festival. He acknowledged the importance of providing a safe environment for athletes from across Africa and ensured that the State Command would support LASU in hosting a successful event.

The delegation included other University officials, such as Mr B.R Yusuf, Dr Lateef Shekoni, Dr Lateef Salami, CSP Oluwole Ojo (Rtd), Mr Edu Babatunde, Mrs Fatimah Ogunniyi, and Mr Seun Gbanja. They reiterated the importance of security and sought the CP's support in ensuring a peaceful and successful hosting of the FASU games.

The meeting ended positively, with the CP assuring the University of his support and commitment to ensuring adequate security during the games. The visit demonstrated the University's proactive approach to security and its commitment to hosting successful and memorable FASU games.
