LASU Directors inducted into African Legendary Hall of fame

The induction of Mr Olayinka and Prof. Enikuomehin into the African Legendary Hall of Fame is a testament to their exceptional dedication and the pivotal roles they have played in the advancement of LASU.

IN a remarkable acknowledgement of their contributions to the success of Lagos State University (LASU), Mr Said Babatunde Olayinka, FCA, the Bursar, and Prof. Oluwatoyin Enikuomehin, the Director of the Directorate of ICT, were honoured at the Afrikanwatch 13th Lecture, Awards, and Induction Ceremony.

The event, which was held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, recognised their achievements by inducting them into the prestigious African Legendary Hall of Fame (ALHF).

Mr Olayinka, a highly accomplished chartered accountant, and Prof. Enikuomehin, a distinguished Professor of Computer Science, received this esteemed recognition from the Afrikanwatch Network. They were joined by other notable Nigerians, including Sen. Anthony Adefuye, a former Senator and member of the Governor's Advisory Council; Fola Lasisi, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom, who served as the Father of the Day; Prince Fagbemi, SAN, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice of the Federation; Prof. Stella Chiemeke, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delta, Agbor; and Engr (Dr) Ibraheem Abdul, Rector of Yaba College of Technology, among others.

The ceremony held at the College Hall, Yaba College of Technology provided a platform for engaging intellectual discussions among the attendees. The lecture titled "Nigerian Politics of Today: The Quest for National Rebirth... Reclaiming the Identity of a Nation" was delivered by Prof. Hope Eghagha, a Professor of English Language at the University of Lagos.

Amidst the list of awardees, which included Mr Sam Omatseye, Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Nation Newspaper, and Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, represented by Hon. Desmond Elliot, Mr Olayinka, FCA, and Prof. Enikuomehin shone brightly as they ascended the stage to receive their induction medals and plaques. They were surrounded by colleagues and well-wishers who celebrated this additional accolade for the administration led by Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello.

The event also recognised other individuals for their outstanding contributions. Among them was Comrade Chief Agnes Sessi, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Lagos Chapter, as well as Engr. Bayo Akinwunmi, the Chief Executive Officer of Sedav Construction Company, who is a well-known contractor with the University.
