THE remarkable achievements of Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, as the 9th Substantive Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, continue to receive recognition and accolades from various quarters.
The latest honour bestowed upon her is the Arewa National Excellence Award, presented by the Arewa Youth Congress, an organisation from Northern Nigeria, in appreciation of her nationalistic leadership, contributions to Nigeria's progress, and selfless support for individuals from the Arewa region. In addition to the award, she was decorated as the "Taurarunwan Mattassan Arewa," which translates to "Light of the North."
The Arewa National Excellence Award was presented to Prof. Olatunji-Bello in recognition of her outstanding leadership and support for individuals from the Arewa region. The award ceremony took place in a formal setting, with members of the Arewa Youth Congress commending her for her nationalistic disposition and commitment to Nigeria's progress.
In a separate event, representatives from the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy, accompanied by Cruise Point Publishers, Abuja, visited Prof. Olatunji-Bello's office on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 to present her with the Exemplary Leadership Award. The award acknowledges her exceptional contributions to society and her remarkable administrative skills, which have positively impacted the fields of physiology, theology, and education.
Expressing her gratitude for the honour, Prof. Olatunji-Bello stated that the recognition serves as an affirmation that her efforts are being observed and appreciated. She emphasised the importance of receiving awards based on merit rather than seeking personal gain or financial gratification. The Vice-Chancellor expressed her gratitude to the Arewa Youth Congress and the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy for acknowledging the positive impact of her work.
