Mr Macaroni urges celebrities to seek legal action against online trolls

NIGERIAN comedian and actor, Adebowale Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has advised his fellow celebrities to seek legal action against online trolls who defame them, rather than using the police to illegally arrest or detain individuals.

Mr Macaroni, who claims to have been a victim of defamation by alleged trolls of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasised the importance of seeking justice through the courts.123f

On his social media handle, Mr Macaroni wrote, "If anyone insults you or defames your character, go to court and seek justice."

He further stated, "APC trolls insult me and tell so many lies against my person. I have never for once used the police to illegally arrest or detain anyone and never will I." He warned that using the police to illegally detain citizens poses a serious danger and urged his colleagues to refrain from abusing their connections in Government to silence online trolls.121f

Mr Macaroni's advice comes amidst reports of Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, arresting an X user who allegedly wished for her child's death. While condemning online bullying and harassment, Mr Macaroni emphasised the importance of seeking legal action and allowing the justice system to run its course.

He cautioned that taking the law into one's own hands can have dire consequences and encouraged celebrities to set a good example by seeking redress through legal means.
