LAGOS Police Commissioner, CP Adegoke Fayoade, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, said that the result of the toxicology test of the late musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad, which was conducted abroad was still awaited.
He disclosed this while responding to a question on the state of the investigation into the singer’s death.
Fayoade said contrary to insinuations, what was being awaited was the toxicology result, adding that it was done abroad because hoodlums razed the state-of-the-art forensic laboratory in Lagos during the ENDSARS violence.
According to him, the police launched a homicide investigation, and the singer’s body was exhumed for autopsy to determine the cause of death and also gather crucial evidence.
In his words: “You will recall that some years back, the Lagos State Government built a state-of-the-art laboratory, however, quite unfortunately, the same laboratory, worth millions of naira, was destroyed by urchins during the ENDSARS protest.
“If that laboratory was not destroyed, we would not have had cause to send the sample from the deceased to the US for toxicology examination.
“It is sad to say that we are yet to receive the toxicology report. We are still awaiting the arrival of the report from the US. We will make public the outcome when we receive it.”
Recall that MohBad, 27, died September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances and was buried the next day.
However, following public outcry, the police set up a panel to probe his death, which led to the arrest of the nurse who administered a vaccine to him after she was found to be unlicensed.
His corpse was also exhumed, and some tests were conducted.
