CONTROVERSIAL socialite, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been sentenced to six months in jail without the option of a fine by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The transwoman was arrested last week by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for mutilation of the Nigerian currency. The arrest was made after the EFCC launched an investigation following allegations that she had sprayed naira notes on several occasions at different events and parties.
After an intensive investigation and interrogation, Idris Okuneye was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, April 12, 2024.
The sentence serves as a warning to individuals who engage in activities that contravene Nigerian laws, particularly concerning the country's currency.
