POPULAR Nigerian comedian and skitmaker, Brain Jotter, has addressed concerns about the potential exploitation of Mike Ejeagha's 1983 hit song "Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo" following a viral dance challenge.
In a video, Brain Jotter described his visit to Ejeagha's home, where the iconic highlife musician was overwhelmed with emotion and shed tears of joy. Brain Jotter expressed gratitude to those who raised concerns about Ejeagha's recognition and compensation, stating, "I understand and value their legitimate concerns... I want you to understand that you are doing something good."
Brain Jotter vehemently denied making any monetary gain from the song, saying, "At the end of the day, no dime was made from this song by me, nothing like that."
He stated the positive outcome of the viral challenge, noting that the song's streams on streaming platforms increased massively, with all revenues going straight to Ejeagha. Brain Jotter also revealed that he gave Ejeagha two million naira from his pocket, stating, "My hard-earned money is just for humanity and not for profit. This whole thing is not for profit."
Brain Jotter expressed sincere gratitude for the joy and excitement brought by the challenge while emphasising his respect for Ejeagha.
