THE 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) was held from May 10 to 11, 2024, featuring memorable events, including the Young Filmmakers Day, Cultural Day Celebration, and the main Awards Night.
The African film and television industry came together to honour exceptional talent and creativity.
Notable personalities, such as Richard Mofe Damijo, Joke Silva, Kehinde Bankole, Wale Ojo, Funke Akindele, and many others graced the events. Commenting on the milestone edition, Dr Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, expressed her delight in the growth of the African film industry.
The awards night, hosted by IK Osakioduwa, had 28 categories, with winners selected by a jury led by filmmaker Femi Odugbemi.
"Breath of Life" emerged as a big winner with five awards, including Best Movie, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director. Kehinde Bankole received the Best Lead Actress award for the second time.
The event also featured a nostalgic performance by Awilo Longomba, while Iya Rainbow and RMD received the Industry Merit Award, and Chimezie Imo received the Trailblazer Award.
